Love is in the air with Hunters of Helmsley

The romantics amongst us are looking forward to Valentine’s Day coming around once more on the 14^th of February.

Legend has it that the roots of Valentine’s Day stem back to St Valentine, a priest from Rome who lived in the third century AD. The story goes that following the banning of marriages by Emperor Claudius II, St Valentine, a hopeless romantic, ordained marriages in secret. The Emperor and his troops found out about this alleged disloyalty and the priest was sent to jail and condemned to death for his crimes.

There, St Valentine fell in love with the jailer’s daughter and sent her a goodbye letter signed ‘from your Valentine’ on February 14th, the day of his execution. Of course, his ending sentiment has filled greeting cards for centuries since with people young and old sharing the love.

Lovers across the nation are set to send cards and gift their partners with flowers, teddies, trinkets, trips away and much more. At least they better be, or they’ll be in big trouble…
